Travelling with a hoarder

*I messed up with the luggage on our way back to Vietnam, boarding a Cebupac flight from the Philippines. We had to pay extra. Oops!*

Let me set the scene: We stood at the check-in counter, suitcases piled up like a game of luggage Jenga. The airline attendant raised an eyebrow as she weighed our bags. The numbers on the scale blinked accusingly. I glanced at my husband, hoping for a reassuring smile. Instead, he just chuckled and shook his head.

**"Overpacking again, huh?"** he teased.

I blushed. Guilty as charged.

You see, I have this uncanny ability to convince myself that I absolutely need that extra pair of shoes or that hoodie that I just might need—even if we're headed to a tropical place. It's like my brain goes into overdrive, imagining all the scenarios where those items might come in handy. Spoiler alert: They never do.

**Lesson learned #1: No overpacking!**

My husband, bless his patient soul, didn't utter a word of complaint. He just handed over some cash and smiled at me. But behind those calm eyes, I knew he was wondering what on earth I'd stuffed into those suitcases. Maybe he imagined a secret compartment filled with bricks or a mini library of hardcovers.

**Lesson learned #2: Weigh your luggage before leaving for the airport!**

As we settled into our seats on the plane, I couldn't help but reflect on how lucky I was to have him by my side.  He's also the voice of reason when I contemplate squeezing that extra souvenir into an already overstuffed bag.

**"Next time,"** he said gently, **"let's pack light and leave some room for spontaneity."**

And you know what? He's right. Because it's not about how many outfits we bring or whether we've packed every conceivable gadget—it's about the memories we create together. The late-night street food adventures, the unexpected detours, and the shared laughter as we navigate our adventure.

So here's to my husband—the unsung hero of our travel escapades. The one who carries my excess baggage—both literally and metaphorically—with grace and understanding. And as for me? Well, I promise to leave those extra shoes at home next time.

*Happy travels, fellow wanderers!* 🌎✈️
